Run for the Roses

Another way to help

Bring your old cell phones and accessories

Run for the Roses

Help a Great Cause

The Rachel and Lilian Rose Foundation has partnered with Verizon Wireless to collect and recycle your old cell phones and accessories to help victims of domestic violence.

How does it work?  Please bring your old cell phones and accessories, working or not and drop them into our recycle bin at the Run for the Roses.  Along with Verizon, we are able to turn that into phones and services to help the victims of domestic abuse.

What happens to the donated phones and accessories ?

  • We have arranged Verizon Wireless where they will:
    • Wipe all data from phones
    • Clean and test the phones
    • Sell phones and any salvageable components
    • Dispose of  anything that is not reusable in an environmentally responsible way

How does this help Victims of Domestic Violence ?  It create funds to:

  • Donate new phones to victims of domestic violence giving them access to a wireless phone and service, along with a voice mailbox can help victims of domestic violence rebuild their lives, by giving them the means to communicate with family, friends, agency and shelter support staff and current or prospective employers

  • Issue financial grants to regional and national domestic violence organizations, such as the Family Violence Prevention Fund, the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and other local community interest groups. The grants fund workshops, classes and other initiatives to aid victims and help raise awareness of domestic violence.

Hundreds of Motorcycles, Corvettes and Classic Cars are coming together on Sunday September 20th for the 7th annual Run for the Roses to benefit the fight against family violence.

The event is in memory of Rachel and Lillian Rose Entwistle who fell victims of family violence when their husband, Neil Entwistle took their lives while they lay innocently in bed at their home in Hopkinton in January, 2006.  Neil, who had fled to England, was returned to the US where he was later convicted and is currently serving two consecutive life sentences.

While past years events have been unbelievable successful, the sheer number of vehicles has forced us to modify this year's event in the interest of safety to a Motorcycle Run and a Car SHOW to include Corvettes, Hot Rods and Classic Cars.

We also will have on hand, representatives from several of the family violence service providers present that can provide contact information for anyone that might need to reach out for assistance for yourselves or someone you know.

Please join this year’s exciting Run for the Roses and have a great time while perhaps helping to save other families from going through the grief that too many have already gone through.
